The Order of Her Holiness Jagadguru Sai Maa’s Brahmacharya
Sai Maa formed the monastic Order of Sai Maa Brahmacharya, consisting of disciples living and teaching around the world, including at Sai Maa’s Shaktidhaam Ashram in Varanasi, India. They have taken lifelong vows to sustain a virtuous lifestyle of sadhana (spiritual practice) and service.
An unprecedented, historic ceremony took place at the Kumbh Mela, Prayagraj on February 8, 2019. At the shivir/camp of Her Holiness Jagadguru Sai Maa, the momentous investiture of nine members of the Order of Sai Maa Brahmacharya as Mahamandaleshwar Mahant 108 took place. They entered the 2,700 year old Vishnuswami lineage, one of four Vishnu lineages in India. This initiation is without precedent as among the nine new Mahamandaleshwar are three women (which raises the total to five females in the Vishnuswami lineage) —in 2004 Her Holiness Sai Maa was the first woman to be elevated in this ancient lineage).
It is also historic that all of the new initiates are foreign born. In addition to those serving in India, others share the teachings of Sanatana Dharma in locations around the world. In Japan, Chile, Israel, France, and the United States, the Mahamandaleshwar facilitate the evolution of higher consciousness for humanity.
